Box Score ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — Tommy Kelly led the way with 18 points as the Catholic University men's basketball team moved to 15-1 on Wednesday evening, downing Elizabethtown, 97-50.
The Cardinals filled up the stat sheet as 14 different players scored and 18 saw game action.
Junior Jesse Hafemeister returned to the court following a two-game absence, picking up right where he left off with 16 points and four boards. Hafemeister shot 7-for-10 from the field while Kelly was also extremely efficient on the evening, going 8-for-10 while adding four rebounds and three assists.
Catholic pushed out an early 23-8 lead and never looked back. The Blue Jays (7-8, 1-4 LC) did their best to sustain the early Cardinal pressure but Aaron Kelly's team continued to turn the screw and opened up an emphatic 29-point lead at the break.
Freshman Jamie Ntiamoah provided good minutes off the bench, grabbing five boards and scoring four points. Jake Melady made all three of his three-point attempts while Justin Green was also perfect from the floor, going 3-for-3 from two-point range.
The Cardinals as a whole continued their high-level shot-making from Sunday night at the Palestra, converting on 58 percent of their field goals and shooting better than 41 percent from beyond the three-point line.
Catholic was eager to run and did not hesitate to do so, outscoring the Blue Jays 21-2 on the fast break. The Cardinals also pulled down 13 more rebounds than Elizabethtown, leading 12 more shots total shot attempts than the home team.
Colby Martins led the way with four assists as the team registered a total of 13 while only turning the ball over eight times. The Cardinals amassed a 23-7 advantage in points-off-turnovers.
Catholic now prepare for a Saturday bout with Drew. Tip-off in Madison, N.J., is slated for 4 p.m.
