WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Catholic University women's swimming and diving team won all but two events in route to a comprehensive victory over Marymount (Va.) on Friday evening.
Six different Cardinals won individual races in the dominant performance as Ava Snyder picked up three total wins on the day.
The sophomore outswam the field in the 200-yard freestyle by nearly five seconds (2:02.57) before placing first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.52). She combined with teammates Emily Albans, Emma Gould and two-time Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week Katie Herman to claim a comfortable win in the 200 free relay (1:43.07), touching the wall nearly three seconds quicker than their next-closest competitors.
Alexandra Tomaine and Kathryn O'Hara went one-two in the 1000-yard freestyle as Tomaine paced the field at 11:47.86 while O'Hara followed nearly five seconds behind.
The freshman pair of Emily Blaskovich and Kaitlin Patt each took home a win as well.
Blaskovich touched first in the 50 free (26.04) while Patt touched second just .22 seconds behind. Patt beat Alexa Hipp and Blaskovich to the finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.00) for a one-two-three Catholic finish.
Herman won every race she swam in, taking home an individual victory in the 100 free (53:67) to add to her pair of relay wins in the 200 free and 200 medley events.
Maura Sadowski beat teammates Jordyn DiCamillo and O'Hara to the wall in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 5:42.47.
The Cardinals face a quick turnover as they will return to the pool tomorrow at 1 p.m. Catholic welcomes the Eagles of Mary Washington to DuFour Center for a dual meet.
