ST. MARY'S CITY, MD. - The Catholic men's tennis team dropped a match to St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday afternoon, falling 7-2 in the road contest.
Senior Matt Rudolf and freshman Diego Romo continue to build chemistry and find a rhythm, jumping ahead early in their doubles match and earning an 8-4 win for the Cardinals. Romo continued the momentum into singles play, dominating his match 6-1, 6-0 to earn both of the Cardinal victories.
Rudolf dropped a tight match, 6-2, 6-4, while freshman Henry Ogden and newcomer Ben Annunziato fell in heartbreaking third-sets for the Cardinals. Ogden took the first set 6-1 before falling 6-4, 10-6. Annunziato won 6-4 before falling in the second in a tiebreaker and dropping the finale 10-5.
Catholic is right back at it on Sunday as they host Marymount (Va.) in the event that will kick-off the 2022-23 Pope's Cup.
