Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University men's lacrosse team finds itself back in the Landmark Conference championship game after a 15-5 win over Susquehanna in the semifinals Wednesday at Carlini Field.

Led by five points from senior Kevin Crowley, the Cardinals (12-4) are back in the conference championship game for the fifth time in the last seven tournaments.

Defensively, junior Nic Pezone totaled 18 saves, including 12 in the second half and seven in the fourth quarter as the River Hawks outshot Catholic, 14-10.

The Cardinals took control of the game early, scoring the first six goals, five of which came in the first quarter with Crowley scoring or assisting on four. Fitzgibbons scored what proved to be the game-winning goal just 2:26 into the second quarter off an assist from senior Sean Baudo to put Catholic in front, 6-0.

Baudo and senior Chris Novella finished with three first-half points each with Baudo assisting Novella on the game's first goal and Novella returning the favor on Baudo's tally at 9:22 of the second.

The Cardinals led 8-1 at halftime before stretching their lead to as many as 15-3 with 9:43 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Senior Tynan Hillery, who was named Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year for the second-straight season Tuesday, totaled five ground balls and four caused turnovers. Catholic forced Susquehanna into 27 turnovers, including 17 in the first half.

Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year Brennan Lorence led the River Hawks (9-9) with two goals. Jozef Korpics made 10 saves while Aidan Kennedy had three caused turnovers.
