PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Catholic University men's rowing team competed in the largest collegiate regatta in the United States, the Dad Vail, on Friday on the Schuylkill River.
The varsity four competed against Bowdoin, Merchant Maine, St. Joseph's and St. Mary's (Md.) in race 42, grabbing a third place finish with a time of 7:03.02. It also crossed the line third in its second race of the day with a time of 7:08.99, finishing behind Maryhurst and Loyola (Md.) and ahead of St. Mary's (Md.) and Merchant Marine.
In race 13, the Cardinal novice four competed against Lafayette, La Salle, Merchant Marine, and New York University. Catholic crossed the line in second place with a time of 6:47.74, just 7.34 seconds behind La Salle. It then placed fourth in race 72, competing against Georgia Tech, Fairfield, Lafayette, La Salle and MSOE, clocking a time of 6:45.50.
Tomorrow, the varsity four will compete against Case Western, MSOE, Colorado and St. Mary's (Md.) at 10:06 a.m.
The novice four will compete against Georgia Tech, MSOE, Stockton and two boats from West Point. Start time is set for 9 a.m.
