Catholic Opens Its Fall Season at the Head of the Ohio

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Catholic men's rowing team opened up its fall campaign at the Head of the Ohio Regatta. The race began upstream from downtown Pittsburgh at Washington's Landing and ended 3.2 miles downstream at Point State Park. 

The Cardinals sent one boat down the river in the men's collegiate/open 4+. Caleb Gascoyne served as the coxswain. Junior Jonah Stofko sat in the stroke. Alan Nicholas (3) and Franklin Hudak (2) also rowed for the squad. Freshman Cillian Binder earned a spot as the stroke in the 4+ boat. This group finished with a time of 14:16.525 and placed 8th out of 23rd teams.

Catholic also competed in a 2X boat. Jeffrey Cone and Alexander Canada recorded a time of 14:53.473 in the event, placing fourth out of 14 boats. 

The team will be back on the water at the Occoquan Chase on Sunday, October 11th. The race will start at the Sandy Run Regional Run in Fairfax, Virginia.
