WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University men's lacrosse team dropped its first home game of the season to No. 4 Christopher Newport on Saturday, 20-10.

The Cardinals (3-2) were led offensively by senior Cameron Dunn who netted his first career hat-trick while senior Sean Baudo also had three points with one goal and two assists.

Defensively, junior Nic Pezone had a season-high 14 saves and two caused turnovers.

Leading 10-6 at halftime, the Captains (5-0) scored seven unanswered goals in the third quarter to extend their lead and remain undefeated.

Catholic found the back of the net three times in the opening four minutes of the fourth quarter, including a man-up tally from graduate student Kevin Crowley. The Cardinals were 2-for-2 on man-up opportunities in the game and have now scored on their last four chances.

Dunn scored his third goal of the game with 13:46 remaining in the fourth quarter before senior Collin Stein and Crowley capped the Catholic scoring.

Junior Jackson Powers caused a career-high three turnovers while senior Tynan Hillery scooped up a season-high five ground balls. 

The game was tied at 3-3 with 1:32 remaining in the first quarter, but the Captains scored three-straight to take a 6-3 lead into the second.

The Cardinals continue their homestand next Saturday, March 12 when they welcome Stockton to Carlini Field. Face-off is at 2 p.m.
