CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Catholic University men's rowing team opened its spring season on Saturday at the Washington College Invitational hosted by Washington College.
Competing against Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference rivals Washington College, St. Mary's (Md.), Villanova, Adrian and Franklin & Marshall, the Cardinals' varsity eight came in third with a time of 6:04.53. Adrian finished first as it crossed the line in 5:43.20.
Catholic's second varsity eight placed first with a time of 6:18.57 while Villanova finished second in 6:34.09.
The Cardinals' men's varsity four completed the course with a time of 7:06.06 and finishing fifth.
The AM heats in varsity eight only and finals for second varsity eight and varsity four had winds a 13 mph quartering tailwind building to 18mph while the PM Final for men's varsity eight had a following tide and increasing wind and gusts. White caps increased as racing progressed.
Catholic returns to action on Saturday, April 9 at the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
