Salisbury, Md. — The Catholic University women's tennis team fell in their spring season debut to Salisbury on Friday afternoon, 8-1.
Senior Brooke Simonson led the way for the Cardinals, taking her match at No. 1 singles after a hard-fought battle. After taking the first set 6-4, she dropped the second set in a tiebreak. The senior then prevailed in the third-set tiebreak, 10-6.
Simonson, partnered with fellow senior Liv Sensenbrenner, played at No. 1 doubles as well, falling 8-2.
Freshman Paige Brightwell was able to take two games at No. 4 singles, dropping the match 6-2, 6-0.
Sophomore Marissa Stambaugh (No. 2 doubles, No. 3 singles), freshman Madison Rollins (No. 3 doubles, No. 5 singles) and sophomore Josie Cost (No. 3 doubles, No. 6 singles) also featured for the Cardinals.
Catholic now turns its attention to a neutral site match-up against Albion College. The Cardinals travel to Hilton Head, S.C. to battle the Britons on March 6 at 3:30 p.m.
