Box Score MADISON, N.J. - Drew rallied for a 60-58 victory over the Catholic University men's basketball team in the semifinals of the Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Championship Wednesday at Baldwin Gymnasium.
The Cardinals (17-7) finished the season with 17 wins, their most since 2016-17 when they were 17-9 and advanced to the Landmark Conference semifinals.
In what might be their final game, seniors Frank Lumaj and Sam Golden each posted a career high in points with Lumaj scoring 13 and Golden adding 10. Lumaj was 6-of-10 from the floor to go along with eight rebounds.
Catholic led 58-39 with 5:44 remaining following a lay-up by sophomore Jesse Hafemeister, but that would be the team's last basket as the Rangers (18-8) scored the final 21 points en route to their second consecutive conference championship game.
The Cardinals missed their final four shots and were 0-of-3 from the free throw line with three turnovers in the last five-plus minutes while Drew was 5-for-12 with three three-pointers and 8-for-8 from the line. In addition, 11 of the Rangers' final 21 points were the result of offensive rebounds.
Led by 11 points from Hafemeister and seven points from Lumaj, Catholic led 31-24 at halftime.
Hafemeister led the team with 16 points and added six rebounds while sophomore Jake Timby had four points and four assists. Freshman Justin Green had three points and seven rebounds.
Howard McBurnie, Jr. led the defending Landmark Conference champions with 12 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and four blocks.
