Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University men's basketball sophomores Jake Timby and Jesse Hafemeister totaled 25 second-half points to lead the Cardinals to an 83-60 victory over Moravian on Senior Day.
Catholic (15-6, 8-4 LC) picked up its 15th win of the season, its most since in the last five since 2017-18 when the team finished the season with a 15-11 record.
Hafemeister finished with a game-high 27 points, scoring 20 or more points for the 10th time this season and the 12th time in 29 career games. He totaled 17 points in the first half as the Cardinals overcame a 10-point deficit with 13 minutes remaining to take a 34-31 halftime lead.
With Catholic holding a 45-43 lead with 16:00 to play in the second, Hafemeister scored 10 points while senior Frank Lumaj added six as the Cardinals used a 28-12 run to go in front by 18 with 4:10 left, 73-55.
Timby scored the next five points to push the lead to 21 before back-to-back layups by senior Jalen Nougues gave Catholic its largest lead, 82-58, with 1:00 remaining.
Senior David Angelo punctuated the victory by scoring the game's final point before recording a steal on the final play.
Timby totaled 15 second-half points as the Cardinals outscored Moravian, 49-29. He was 3-of-5 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free throw line while Hafemeister was 5-of-5 and finished the game 8-for-8.
As a team, Catholic was 17-of-20 from the free throw line for the game, including 13-of-15 in the second half.
Moravian (9-14, 4-8 LC) scored the game's first nine points and led 17-7 before nine consecutive points by Hafmeister sparked a 12-1 run to give the Cardinals the lead for good with 8:21 to play.
Lumaj finished with eight points and three rebounds while Hafemeister, junior Jack Kouba and sophomore Declan O'Sullivan each had a team-high five rebounds. Kouba also led the team with three assists.
Catholic hosts Elizabethtown in its final regular-season home game on Wednesday. The Blue Jays edged out a 67-66 victory at Thompson Gymnasium last Sunday, Feb. 6, hitting a three-pointer with 3.4 seconds remaining.
