Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Catholic men's basketball improved to 8-0 on the season with a 71-46 victory at Moravian on Saturday to open up Landmark Conference play.
The Cards shot 46 percent from the floor and held Moravian to just 33 percent in the win. Jesse Hafemeister scored 17 points on eight-of-13 shooting to lead the offense. Dan Buckley and Colby Martins each scored 11 points.
Catholic jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the early portion of the first half, taking a six-point lead with 15:12 to play in the half after a Hafemeister three. Leading 13-10 two minutes later, Martins hit his first three of the game to take a 16-10 lead for Catholic.
The Cardinals pushed the lead all the way to 16 after a Jamie Ntiamoah layup with 7:01 to play in the half, but the Greyhounds ended the half on a 14-2 run to keep things interesting into the second half.
A 9-0 run pushed Catholic's lead to 39-27 just under four minutes into the second half. Buckley hit a three to give the Cardinals a 33-27 lead and then extended the lead to 10 with a layup.
Tommy Kelly got in on the action with a three-pointer at the 12:03 mark to give Catholic a 49-31 lead. The lead continued to swell for the Cards, getting all the way to 29 at the 6:42 mark after another Kelly bucket.
12 different Cardinals scored in the contest with eight scoring at least four points. Cephas Wilson-Bahun grabbed eight rebounds for Catholic.
Catholic returns to action on Saturday when Bridgewater comes to Franny Murray Court.
