WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic women's swimming and diving team improved to 5-0 on Saturday afternoon, defeating Elizabethtown 187-74. The Cardinals have scored at least 154 points in all five meets and have scored more than 180 points three times.
Emily Albans, Bella Mugno, Kaitlin Patt, and Katie Herman opened the meet with a victory in the 400 medley relay, beating teammates Alexa Hipp, Madeline Doucette, Angele Parral, and Emma Gould by less than a second.
Distance dynamo Ava Snyder won the 1000 free by just under 25 seconds to earn nine points for the Cardinals.
Hipp added a win to the tally in the 100 back, edging Patt by .02 seconds. In a continued theme, Mugno out-touched Doucette by .27 to win the 100 breast.
Parral and Herman picked up individual wins in the 200 fly and 50 free respectively. Herman blazed to a win in 24.32 seconds. Herman won again in the 100 free, finishing with a time of 54.30.
Hipp and Mugno added their second individual wins in the 200 back and 200 breast. Hipp held off Albans in the backstroke with a time of 2:14.38 while Mugno won by nearly seven seconds in her event.
Snyder won another distance event by a substantial margin, finishing the 500 free in 5:19.60, a nearly 12-second margin separating her and second place.
Finally, Emily Blaskovich, Gould, Albans, and Herman won the 200 free with a time of 1:42.82.
The Cardinals are back in action in two weeks as they head down to the Yellow Jacket Invite and host a Diving Invite in D.C.
