Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Catholic University women's basketball team moved to 4-0 with an impressive win over Salisbury on Wednesday evening.
Eight Cardinals registered a steal as Catholic forced 31 turnovers while holding the Sea Gulls to just 46 points in the contest. Erin Thompson and Anna Scoblick each forced four steals.
Catholic was efficient on the offensive end of the floor as well, shooting an impressive 43.9 percent from the field. The Cardinals were especially lethal from three-point land, shooting a staggering 12-for-18 from beyond the arch.
Erin Doherty, Carly Mulvaney and Sarah White knocked down three three-point shots a piece as White provided a spark off the bench, putting together an impressive stat line. In 18 minutes, the junior scored 11 points, dished out four assists, grabbed three rebounds, registered three steals and added a block good measure. White also logged a plus-minus rating of +24, the best of any player on the floor.
The Cardinals came out of the gates flying, outscoring Salisbury 22-5 in the first quarter. After Salisbury drained an early three to grab its only lead less than 90 seconds into the contest, the Cardinals put together an emphatic 23-2 run and never gave up control.
Doherty led the way with 15 points while Rachel Bussanich pitched in with 12. Eleven players registered a point for the Cardinals as freshman Alexa Kenah scored her first collegiate basket in the victory.
Catholic's bench outscored the Sea Gulls 32-15 while the Cardinals bettered Salisbury 19-4 in fast break points and 19-6 when it came to points off turnovers.
The Cardinals will now turn their attention to a home contest against Ithaca, who were ranked preason-No. 20 by D3Hoops.com. Catholic looks for revenge after falling to the Bombers in last year's NCAA Tournament First Round. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m on Saturday.
