Catholic Closes Out Season Against Scranton in Landmark Semifinals

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Catholic women's basketball team ends its season after going up against Scranton in the Landmark Semifinals. The Cardinals fell 74 to 36 against the Royals.

Scranton's Kaci Kranson found the board first with a three pointer. Carly Catania answered with a three of her own to tie the game up at three apiece. McKenna Karlson and Lauren Kraft made back-to-back buckets to cut the Scranton early streak. The Cardinals closed out the first quarter with a three pointer from Molly McLaughlin, trailing 24-15. 

The Cardinal defense stunted their opponents in the second quarter, holding the Royals to their lowest scoring quarter of the game. Anna Scoblick collected a block in the second, one of three Cardinals to do so during today's matchup. Catholic went to the locker room down 39 to 23. 

The Royals pulled away with the game in the second half, scoring 35 points to the Cardinals' 13. Karlson and Anna Scoblick scored the lone buckets of the third quarter for Catholic. 
Ultimately, Catholic fell in the Landmark Semifinals 74 to 36 to Scranton.

McKenna Karlson led the Cardinals with seven points, three of which were from the charity stripe.

Alexa Kenah led the team with six rebounds, all on defense. Amelia Kennedy followed close behind with 5, splitting hers between the offensive (3) and defensive (2) sides of the ball.

Thirteen different Cardinals saw action in the season finale. Raquel Guidetti, Amelia Kennedy, and Maggie Hughes all shot 100% from the free throw line. 

Catholic ends its season with an 18-9 overall record, going 14-4 in Landmark Conference play.
