WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Catholic women's volleyball team split its tri-match on Saturday afternoon, defeating Lycoming 3-1 while falling to Lebanon Valley 3-0.

Junior Olivia Blondin had 18 kills on the day while senior Brittany Connatser finished with 17.

Catholic 0-3 Lebanon Valley (15-25, 23-25, 20-25)

Lebanon Valley hit .236 for the match, tallying 36 kills to defeat Catholic in three sets while the Cardinals totaled 29 kills and hit .176 for the match.

Freshmen Tanya Sichling (.571) and Erin Faughnan (.444) were efficient in the match for the Cardinals, tallying nine kills on a combined 16 swings. Connatser led the team with eight kills in the match.

Defensively, Blondin and Sichling both had eight digs for the Cardinals who played without junior setter Sydney Sheppard and junior libero Gaby Hernandez Ferraiuoli.

Taylor McInerney led LVC with 17 kills on 36 attacks. Kasey Thomas led the match with 11 digs.

Catholic 3-1 Lycoming (23-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-15)

After dropping the first set to Lycoming, Catholic roared back, winning each of the next three sets by at least five.

Catholic trailed 10-7 in the first set before four straight points gave the Cardinals an 11-10 lead. Catholic led 15-12, but Lycoming scored four straight to take the lead. After trading points back-and-forth, Lycoming closed out the set with a 25-23 win.

Set number two was all Catholic, as the Cardinals jumped ahead 9-1. Faughnan picked up two early kills for the Cardinals while Connatser added an early kill as they took the early advantage. 

Lycoming trimmed the deficit to five at 14-9, but Catholic scored six straight to essentially put it away, getting two kills from Faughnan and two aces from freshman Izzy Steinberg. Blondin closed out the set with a kill for a 25-14 Catholic win.

Catholic jumped ahead 9-2 in set three, getting a kill from four different players as they took the early lead. A 6-0 run with Blondin serving put Catholic ahead 15-4 as Blondin added two aces and freshman Halie Murphy added a kill. 

Catholic led 17-6 before Lycoming took 12 of the next 15 points to make it interesting. After a Connatser kill made it 22-19, Catholic closed out a 25-20 win with three straight points, getting a kill from sophomore Grace Guerin during that stretch.

The Catholic run came late in the fourth set as they led it 13-11 before a mid-set explosion. The Cardinals scored five of the next six points with kills from Connatser and Blondin adding to the lead.

Back-to-back kills from Guerin made it a 20-13 game moments later. Two of the final three points came from freshman Claire Harris as Catholic closed out a 25-15 set win.

The Cardinals hit .409 in the second set and .333 in the fourth, helping them hit a strong .243 for the match. Blondin had a double-double, notching 15 kills while hitting .314 and adding 10 digs. Guerin added eight kills while hitting .500 and Connatser had nine kills while hitting .444. Sichling contributed 15 digs in the match.

Catholic will host Gallaudet on Wednesday night on Franny Murray Court with the match set to start at 7 p.m.
