YORK, Pa. – The Catholic women's tennis team fell at York (Pa.) on Sunday afternoon, falling 9-0 despite a handful of tight matches.
The Cardinals battled hard in one doubles, but fell just short in both. Graduate Brooke Simonson and senior Jane Krukiel fell behind 6-3 in one doubles, but rallied back to force a tiebreaker before falling 8-7.
Sophomore Paige Brightwell and senior Bridget McCabe dropped a tough one in three doubels, 8-4.
York swept singles as well, despite Simonson and Brightwell forcing third set tiebreakers. Simonson took the first set 6-4 before falling 6-4 and 10-8. Brightwell won the first set 6-3 before falling 6-1 and 10-3.
Catholic will travel to Randolph-Macon on Sunday for its next match.
