BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Catholic University men's basketball sophomores Jesse Hafemeister and Tommy Kelly combined for 44 points as the Cardinals posted an 81-64 road win over Moravian Saturday at Johnston Hall.

Catholic (10-4, 3-2 LC), who posted their fourth-straight win against the Greyhounds, scored 39 first-half points and led by 14 at halftime.

Hafemeister finished the game with 23 points while Kelly added 21. It marked the third game this season in which the team had two 20-point scorers. All three times have been Hafemeister and Kelly. The team is 2-1 in those games.

It was Hafemeister's sixth game with at least 20 points this season and the fourth for Kelly.

Kelly scored 12 points in the first half while Hafemeister added nine as the Cardinals shot 55.2 percent from the floor while holding Moravian to just 8-of-21 shooting.

Catholic led by as many as 17 with 5:03 remaining in the first half after a jump shot by freshman Cephas Wilson-Bahun.

The Greyhounds (7-9, 2-4 LC) scored the first seven points of the second half to cut their deficit to seven, 39-32 with 18:02 to play.

Moravian trimmed the lead to four with 16:01 left, but the Cardinals answered with a 13-3 run to push their advantage back to 14 and never let it slip below eight the rest of the way.

Catholic shot 55.0 percent for the game, its second-best field goal percentage of the season, while committing a season-low seven turnovers.

Junior Pat Buckley and sophomore Declan O'Sullivan each scored a career-high eight points while Wilson-Bahun totaled five points and five rebounds.

After missing the start of the season due to injury, senior David Angelo made his season debut with two points, one assist and one rebound. Saturday marked his first appearance since Feb. 19, 2021.

The Cardinals face Goucher on Wednesday at home where they have won six-straight against the Gophers. Tip-off from Franny Murray Court is at 7 p.m.
