Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. - Catholic University volleyball junior Brittany Connatser totaled a match-high 27 kills as the Cardinals were edged in five sets by Marymount (Va.) Monday.
Catholic (0-4) dropped its second-straight match in five sets following Saturday's loss to Oberlin at York (Pa.).
Connatser totaled 27 kills in 56 attempts for a .339 hitting percentage while junior Mackenzie Collier posted her second consecutive double double and the 14th of her career with 12 kills and 17 digs.
Senior Caroline Kelly had a career-high 34 digs, marking the third time she has totaled 30 or more in her career.
After the Saints (3-2) won the first set, the Cardinals rallied to win the next two, including a 26-24 victory in the second. With Marymount one point away from taking a 2-0 lead, Catholic scored the final four points on back-to-back kills from Connatser, one from Collier and set point coming on a service ace from Kelly.
The Cardinals scored six of the first seven points in the third and never trailed en route to a 25-22 win and a 2-1 set lead.
With the fourth set tied at 8-8, the Saints scored three-straight points to take the lead en route to tying the match at 2-2.
Catholic took a 7-6 lead in the deciding fifth set, but the Saints scored nine of the final 11 points to seal the victory in the first meeting between the two teams since 2017.
Freshman Mya Sullivan totaled 33 assists and 17 digs while sophomore Alycia Powers had 11 assists and eight digs.
The Cardinals are scheduled to make their home debut on Wednesday, Sept. 8 against Washington College. First serve is at 7 p.m.
