WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Catholic University men's tennis team opened up their home schedule on Saturday as the Cardinals (0-2) fell to St. Mary's (Md.) 7-2.
Senior David Brennan and sophomore Diego Robles battled at No. 3 doubles, but ultimately fell 5-8 as the Cardinals moved into singles play.
Junior Juan Gomez picked up his first set victory of the season at No. 1 singles as he posted a convincing 6-2, 6-4 victory to give the Cardinals their first point of the afternoon. Robles competed at No. 6 singles in a hard fought 5-7, 4-6 loss.
Brennan continued his day at No. 4 singles where he picked up Catholic's second point of the day with a 6-2, 6-4 win.
The Cardinals have a quick turnaround, as the team travels to Shanendoah tomorrow, Sept. 19. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
