GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Catholic University women's tennis team opened up their fall match schedule on Saturday as the Cardinals competed at Gettysburg College. The Cardinals were defeated 9-0 on the road.
At No. 1 and No. 2 singles, juniors Abbey Cassidy and Hanna Scali dropped 6-1, 6-1 decisions against the Bullets. Sophomore Marisa Stambaugh competed at No. 4 singles but was defeated 6-3, 6-0. Kathleen O'Connell played at No. 5 singles and opened up her senior campaign with a 6-1, 6-3 loss.
In doubles competition, Stambaugh and junior Aubree Narus battled at No. 2 doubles against Sarah Guistwite and Kate Alianiello, but ultimately dropped the match, 8-4.
The Cardinals will return to the court next weekend on Saturday, Sept. 18 when they host St. Mary's (Md.) at 12 p.m.
