McGorry Totals Eight Points in 17-8 Win at Moravian

Box Score

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Catholic University men's lacrosse junior Jack McGorry totaled a career-high eight points as the Cardinals posted a 17-8 road win over Moravian Wednesday at John Makuvek Field.

Catholic (4-0, 4-0 LC) posted its eighth win in the last nine games dating back to last season and its seventh in eight all-time meetings against the Greyhounds.

The Cardinals outscored Moravian, 45-18, in two meetings this season after posting a 28-10 victory at Carlini Field on April 10.

McGorry also tied a career high with six goals, equaling the mark he set in a 22-11 win over Mary Washington at home on March 7, 2020. He had a hand in three of Catholic's first five goals, scoring twice and assisting on another as the Cardinals built a 5-1 lead after the first quarter.

Sophomore Ryan Carroll also had two first-quarter tallies before Catholic scored eight more in the second, including two from McGorry and sophomore Luke D'Ambrogi to take a 13-4 halftime advantage.

McGorry registered his second hat-trick this season and the fifth of his career with 7:42 remaining in the second quarter as the Cardinals led 10-2. He was one of eight players who scored at least one goal for the Cardinals, including five with at least two.

Junior Sean Baudo totaled two goals and two assists while Carroll, D'Ambrogi, and senior Kevin Crowley had two each.

Junior Mike McShea won 13 faceoffs, had six ground balls and scored his second goal of the season. Freshman Austin Stanley had four caused turnovers while junior Tynan Hillery had two.

In goal, sophomore Nic Pezone made eight saves to earn his eighth career win.

Catholic begins a two-game homestand to end the regular season on Saturday when it hosts rival Scranton. Following the game, the team will honor eight seniors: Sil Argentieri, Vince Catenacci, Ryan Gilfillan, Ben Karthaus, Kevin Malone, Evan Markley, Griffin Smith and Joe Thiroway.
