SCRANTON, Pa. - The Catholic University men's tennis team fell for the first time in its last four matches Saturday, dropping a 7-2 decision at Scranton.
Seniors Christian Papalambros and Dom Mazzeo began the day by winning at No. 3 doubles, 8-4, but the Cardinals trailed the Royals by one going into singles.
All three doubles matches were tight with seniors Bruno To and Emmett Lee dropping an 8-6 decision at No. 2 while senior Frankie Fortunati and freshman Allan Van Nostrand fell for the first time in five matches this season at No. 1 doubles, 8-5.
Lee secured the team's only singles triumph at No. 6, securing his third-straight win with a come-from-behind victory, 5-7, 6-3, 10-6.
Sunday's match with Drew was postponed due to COVID protocols so Catholic will return to action on Wednesday when it makes the short trip to Towson, Md. to take on Goucher beginning at 3:30 p.m.
