ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - The Catholic University men's rowing team officially started its spring schedule on Sunday against fellow Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference member Stockton.
The morning featured showers and fog with temperatures in the 50's and winds between 5-7 mph to the southeast before clearing.
The second varsity eight started things off with the program's first conference victory in a time of 4:48.4, edging out the Cardinals' first varsity eight who crossed the line in 4:50.0. The Ospreys came in third at 4:55.8.
The varsity four had some trouble steering and did not register a time while Stockton finished the course in 5:22.8.
The Ospreys also won the novice four with a time of 5:40.8 while Catholic's second varsity 4A came in second at 5:50.4. The Cardinals' second varsity 4B came in third with a time of 6:09.0.
Catholic returns to racing next Saturday, April 17 against St. Mary's (Md.) at the James P. Muldoon River Center in St. Mary's City, Md.
