SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Catholic University men's tennis team opened its season with a 7-2 road loss at Susquehanna Saturday.
The Cardinals (0-1, 0-1 LC) were led by freshman Allan Van Nostrand who posted two wins in his first collegiate match.
Van Nostrand began the day by partnering with senior Frankie Fortunati for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles before picking up his first career singles victory at No. 2 with a straight sets win over Joshua Sanderson, 6-0, 6-2.
Seniors Bruno To and Emmett Lee dropped a close 8-5 decision at No. 3 doubles while senior Dom Mazzeo fell in a back-and-forth battle at No. 3 singles, 2-6, 6-3, 2-6.
Catholic returns to action on Wednesday, March 31 when it makes the short trip to Towson, Md. to take on Goucher beginning at 3 p.m.
