Box Score HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Catholic University men's basketball freshman Colby Martins scored a career-high 22 points as the Cardinals posted their third-straight win, 81-56 over Juniata on the road at Memorial Gym Tuesday night.
The win gives Catholic (3-1, 3-1 LC) its first three-game win streak since three years ago tomorrow when the Cardinals beat Moravian at home, 90-88 on Feb. 17, 2018. It was also their fourth in the last five against the Eagles.
Martins scored at least 20 points for the second-straight game after finishing with 21 in the team's 74-51 win at Moravian on Sunday. He was one of three freshmen to score in double figures as he was joined by Jesse Hafemeister and Tommy Kelly.
Hafemeister, who was named Landmark Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday, finished with 14 points while Kelly added 13.
Freshmen accounted for 71 of Catholic's season-high 81 points. Jake Melady totaled six points and a career-high nine rebounds.
Martins totaled 15 of his game-high 22 points in the first half as the Cardinals jumped out to a 17-point halftime lead, 43-26. The team shot 53.3 percent from the floor, going 16-for-30 while hitting 6-of-11 three-point attempts.
Juniata (2-1, 2-1 LC) shot just 37.8 percent from the floor and were most effective from the free throw line, going 19-for-27, including 14-for-21 in the second half.
Junior Frank Lumaj had eight points in just 12 minutes after being limited because of foul trouble.
John Kelly was the lone player to score in double figures for the Eagles as he finished with 13 points, scoring 11 from the free throw line. He was one of 10 different players to score for the hosts.
Catholic wraps up its three-game road trip on Friday when it heads to rival Scranton. Tip-off from John Long Center is at 5 p.m.
