Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University women's basketball sophomore Rachel Bussanich scored a career-high 24 points as the Cardinals rallied from a nine-point fourth-quarter deficit to post a 69-62 victory over Moravian Sunday on Franny Murray Court.
Catholic (3-1, 3-1 LC) posted its first home win of the season and improved to 12-3 on Franny Murray Court over the last two.
Bussanich was 10-of-18 from the floor while adding nine rebounds, just missing her second career double double in the last three games. She totaled 11 points and five rebounds in the decisive fourth-quarter.
Junior Amanda Johnson added nine fourth-quarter points, going 6-for-6 from the free throw line as the Cardinals outscored the Greyhounds, 25-9.
Johnson finished with a season-high 18 points, two shy of her career-high.
Catholic, who trailed 55-43 after three quarters, scored the first nine points of the fourth to tie the game with Johnson scoring five and Bussanich adding four.
Moravian (3-3, 2-3 LC) took a three-point lead on a jumper by Madison Amy with 1:38 remaining before back-to-back baskets by Bussanich gave the Cardinals their first lead since the end of the second quarter.
Catholic scored the game's final 10 points, including six from the free throw line in the final 23 seconds. Johnson went 4-for-4 and sophomore Amelia Baldo was 2-for-2.
Baldo totaled four points, a career-high eight rebounds and three assists. Sophomore Erin Doherty, who scored a career-high 18 points against the Greyhounds on Friday, added 13 more on Sunday while grabbing five rebounds.
Sophomore Sammie McCarter earned her first career start in 31 games and had four points, five rebounds and two steals.
Amy and Kayla Yoegel combined for 27 points for Moravian, but were held to just two on 1-of-5 shooting in the fourth quarter.
Prior to the game, Catholic honored its two seniors, Courtney McCool and Cristin George.
The Cardinals continue their three-game homestand on Tuesday when they host Juniata for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
