WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University women's tennis team swept Hood College in a non-conference match up on Saturday en route to the team's fourth win of the fall season.
Senior Kathleen O'Connell and freshman Paige Brightwell opened up the afternoon with an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles. Junior Hanna Scali and sophomore Marisa Stambaugh followed up with an 8-0 sweep at No. 1 doubles to take a 2-0 lead.
Scali picked up her second set victory at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep. Junior Aubree Narus earned a victory at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0 and senior Josie Cost won at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-1.
O'Connell closed out the afternoon and the victory with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 4 singles for her second win of the afternoon.
The Cardinals return to the Dowd Family Tennis Courts tomorrow, Oct. 10 when they welcome York (Pa.) to Washington, D.C. at 12 p.m.
