WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University men's tennis team picked up their second win of the season, 8-1, over Hood College in a non-conference match-up at the Dowd Family Tennis Courts.
The Cardinals (2-2) picked up their first point of the afternoon as senior David Brennan and sophomore Lucas Boyle won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. Juniors Matthew Rudolph and Juan Gomez gave the Cardinals the 2-0 lead at No. 1 doubles with an 8-2 victory. Catholic picked up its third point of the day at No. 3 doubles by forfeit.
Gomez won his second game of the day, 6-0-, 6-0, at No. 1 singles to open up the play. Senior Emmett Lee secured the victory at No. 3 singles with the fifth game point of the match, 6-3, 6-4.
Senior James Schmalz won at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2, while Boyle picked up another point at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0. The Cardinals picked up their ninth and final point of the day by forfeit.
The Cardinals concluded their fall season today at 2-2 and will now prepare for their spring season, beginning in March.
