CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Catholic University men's rowing team officially opened its 2021-22 season on Saturday at the 5K Head of the Chester hosted by Washington College.
Competing against Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference rivals Washington College and St. Mary's (Md.), the Cardinals' varsity eight came in second with a time of 16:07. The host Shoremen finished first as they crossed the line in 15:30.
Catholic's second varsity eight placed third with a time of 17:09 while St. Mary's (Md.) finished fourth in 17:31.
The Cardinals' novice team completed the course with a time of 19:49.
The first 3K had light wind and nice conditions while the last 2K had a head wind of 9 mph. Close to slack tide for the race.
Catholic returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 24 at the Head of the Charles on the Charles River in Boston, Mass.
