Box Score MADISON, N.J. - The Catholic University field hockey team put on an offensive show on Saturday to defeat Drew in Landmark Conference play, 10-0.
The Cardinals have won seven-straight against the Rangers (3-9, 0-3 LC) and have won nine-straight Landmark Conference games.
Sophomore Lauren D'Emilio opened up the scoring for the Cardinals (4-8, 3-0 LC), scoring the eventual game-winner just 2:20 into the game. D'Emilio and fellow sophomore Carly Bateman led the Cardinals with three tallies on the afternoon. Senior Katie Cusumano recorded the assist after rebounding a previous shot.
Just four minutes later, D'Emilio assited Bateman to extend the lead to 2-0.
Senior Katie Murphy gave the Cardinals a 3-0 lead two minutes later off a cross from sophomore Mary Parker before D'Emilio netted her second score at the 11:36 mark from sophomore Ashley Martin.
Catholic closed out the first quarter with a 5-0 lead on a goal from freshman Niki Micciche as Murphy posted her third point of the day with the assist.
Bateman recorded her hat-trick with two second-quarter goals. Junior Hanna Jacobs picked up her first assist of the season on Bateman's second goal and sophomore Kellie Caputo assisted the third.
Junior Maeve McCarthy earned her second win of the season as she made five second-half saves to record the shutout.
Junior Gracie Burford scored her first career goal in the 32nd minute to extend the lead to 8-0 off a pass from senior Ryan Doran. Just two minutes later, freshman Allison Flynn scored her second goal of the year when senior Caleigh McGough found her in front of the cage.
D'Emilio closed out her hat-trick with the Cardinals' last goal of the afternoon on a breakaway play from Murphy.
Defensively, junior Shelby Young recorded the first career defensive save to aid in the shutout.
Catholic remains on the road for another Landmark Conference match-up versus Goucher on Wednesday. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
