Volleyball Closes Out Season With Two Landmark Victories

MADISON, N.J. - Led by sophomore Olivia Blondin, the Catholic University volleyball team closed out its 2021 season with Landmark Conference victories over Drew and Moravian on Saturday.

The Cardinals (8-23, 3-4 LC) finished the season with wins in three of their last four matches and in fifth-place in the Landmark Conference standings, just one loss behind Susquehanna for the fourth and final spot in the 2021 Landmark Conference Volleyball Championship.

Blondin totaled 33 kills and 25 digs on Saturday while posting two double doubles, a .278 hitting percentage and averaging 4.13 kills per set. She finished the season with four double doubles in her last six matches, setting a new career high in kills four times.

Senior Mackenzie Collier had 23 kills and 50 digs while junior Brittany Connatser added 23 kills and 18 digs.

With 55 digs on Saturday, senior Caroline Kelly finished with 1,566 in 90 career matches to rank sixth in program history, surpassing Mary Roy who had 1,564 digs from 1996-99.

Catholic 3, Drew 2 (25-22, 17-25, 25-22, 24-26, 15-8)

Blondin had a career-high 17 kills to go along with 10 digs as she was one of three Cardinals to post a double double in kills and digs. Connatser had 15 kills and a career-high 10 digs to record her second career double double. Her first came against Eastern on Sept. 25 when she had 12 kills and 10 digs.

Collier added 14 kills and 26 digs, both season highs, as she totaled her fourth double double of the season and the 16th of her career.

As a team, Catholic totaled a season-high 61 kills, 203 attempts and 113 digs. Kelly had a career-high 37 digs, marking the fifth time in her career that she has totaled 30 or more.

Sophomore Isabel Gonzalez had a career-high 29 assists, equaling the mark she had in a four-set win versus Montclair State on Oct. 23. Freshman Mya Sullivan totaled six kills, 19 assists and a career-high 20 digs.

Andrea Camacho-Tenreiro 31 kills and 25 digs to lead the Rangers (18-9, 2-4 LC) who finished their inaugural season in sixth place in the Landmark Conference standings, one loss behind the Cardinals.

Catholic 3, Moravian 0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-23)

Led by 16 kills and 10 digs from Blondin, Catholic closed out the season with its fourth three-set win of the year.

Blondin posted a .314 hitting percentage, her second-highest of the season with at least 10 kills. Collier had nine kills and a match-high 23 digs while Kelly added 19.

Connatser had eight kills and six digs while totaling a .300 hitting percentage. She finished her first season with the Cardinals with a team-high 270 kills and has totaled 892 in three collegiate season after posting 622 in two years at Northern Virginia Community College.

Sullivan totaled four kills, 21 assists and nine digs while Gonzalez added 18 assists.
