Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University volleyball senior Mackenzie Collier totaled 12 kills and 30 digs as the Cardinals split a tri-match with Cabrini and Salisbury Friday on Senior Day.

Catholic (5-20) honored its three seniors prior to its final home match of the season against the Sea Gulls. In addition to Collier, the team honored Caroline Kelly and Katie McDonough.

Kelly totaled 31 digs in two matches to raise her career total to 1,460 and move her into eighth in program history. She needs just 27 to move into seventh place with Kristin Bufka '97 who had 1,487 from 1993-96.

Catholic 3, Cabrini 2 (25-17, 23-25, 13-25, 25-23, 16-14)

The Cardinals posted their third win in five matches at home with a five-set win over the Cavaliers (7-14). Catholic edged out two-point victories in the last two sets to post its first win in four meetings against Cabrini dating back to 2014.

Junior Brittany Connatser had a team-high 12 kills and Collier added 10 to go along with a team-high 19 digs. Meanwhile, freshman Grace Guerin totaled a career-high nine kills while freshman Courtney Pohl also had nine, one shy of her career high.

Guerin and Pohl combined for 18 kills and a .267 hitting percentage.

Connatser totaled six of her 12 kills in the first set as the Cardinals rallied from an 8-5 deficit by scoring 14 of the next 18 points to take a 19-12 lead. The Cavaliers pulled within four, 21-17, but Catholic answered by scoring the set's final four points, including two on kills by Connatser.

The Cardinals took a 13-6 lead to start the second and later led 22-18, but Cabrini took advantage of three service aces and two Catholic errors as part of a 7-1 run to close the set and even the match.

The third set featured five ties, the last of which came at 9-9 before the Cavaliers scored 16 of the final 20 points to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

The fourth set was tied at 7-7, but Cabrini used a 13-6 run to take its largest lead at seven. However, led by eight assists from sophomore setter Isabel Gonzalez, the Cardinals scored 12 of the final 15 points to tie the match and force a fifth set.

The deciding set featured 10 ties and five lead changes. With the Cavaliers holding match point at 14-13, Collier picked up her 10th kill of the match to tie it before back-to-back setting errors by Cabrini gave Catholic the victory.

Sophomore Olivia Blondin totaled seven kills and a career-high 14 digs while Kelly had 13 digs.

Salisbury 3, Catholic 0 (25-23, 25-15, 32-30)

Blondin followed up her performance in the first match with a career-high 11 kills in the second while adding 10 digs for her first career double double. Connatser had eight more kills to go along with four block assists while Guerin totaled seven kills and six block assists.

The match featured 31 ties and 17 lead changes, including 13 and nine in the opening set. Tied at 18-18, the Sea Gulls used a quick 5-2 spurt to go in front by three before the Cardinals pulled within one, 24-23. However, after failing to capitalize on two set point opportunities, Salisbury edged out the two-point victory on a kill by Jenna Feinauer.

The second set was all Sea Gulls (11-8) as they scored the first five points and never led by less than that as they limited Catholic to five kills and a .000 hitting percentage.

The third set needed 12 extra points to decide it as Salisbury overcame 18 ties and eight lead changes to post its fourth-straight win. Neither team played well offensively as they combined for 25 errors and a .009 hitting percentage on 108 attempts. Trailing 20-16, the Sea Gulls used an 8-2 run before the Cardinals staved off three consecutive match points to tie the set at 24-24.

However, neither team could seal the victory as they battled through six match point opportunities, four of which belonged to Salisbury. The Sea Gulls finally sealed the deal by scoring the last three points, including two on kills by Angelina Casserly.

In her final home match, Kelly totaled a match-high 18 digs while Collier had two kills and 11 digs. In her first career start, Gonzalez had 14 assists and six digs, both career highs.

Catholic returns to action next Friday, October 22 when it travels to Hoboken, N.J. for a non-conference contest with Stevens beginning at 5 p.m.
