Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University volleyball freshman Mya Sullivan totaled a team-high seven digs as the Cardinals fell to No. 11 Juniata Wednesday on Franny Murray Court, 25-13, 25-17, 25-15.
Sullivan added three kills and seven assists while sophomore Olivia Blondin had a team-best six kills.
Catholic (4-19, 1-3 LC) trailed 8-7 in the first set following a kill by sophomore Amy Lumaj before the Eagles scored the next five consecutive points en route to its largest victory of the night.
Blondin had three of her six kills in the second set as the Cardinals trailed by one again at 8-7 and later at 14-13 before Juniata scored the next six-straight to take a seven-point advantage. Freshman Grace Guerin added two kills in the set while Sullivan, senior Mackenzie Collier and senior Caroline Kelly each had four digs.
The third set was the most competitive as there were three ties and two lead changes over the first seven points. Leading 4-3, the Eagles (18-1, 4-0 LC) scored seven of the next nine points to extend their lead to 11-5 en route to the 10-point victory despite six block assists from Catholic.
Kelly and Collier each finished with six digs while Kelly added two service aces.
The Cardinals wrap up their home schedule on Friday with a tri-match against Cabrini and Salisbury beginning at 1 p.m. Prior to the team's match against Salisbury at 5 p.m., the team will honor its three seniors for senior day.
