Box Score SCRANTON, Pa. - Catholic University men's basketball junior Justin Pryor tied his career high with 15 points, but Scranton scored 19 of the final 26 points over the final six minutes en route to a 71-63 victory Saturday at the Long Center.
The Cardinals (8-13, 4-6 LC) lost for just the second time in the last five games, but are now two games out of the fourth and final spot in the Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Championship with four remaining.
Catholic led 56-52 with 5:53 remaining following two free throws by senior Collin Hartmann, but a 9-0 run gave the Royals a 61-56 advantage with 3:26 to play.
Back-to-back layups by senior Riley Hayes pulled the Cardinals within one, but a quick 6-0 spurt, highlighted by four points from Kyle Deverna put Scranton back in front 67-60 with 43 seconds left.
The first-place Royals (16-5, 8-2 LC) sealed the win by going 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the final 11 seconds.
Led by Pryor, Catholic's five starters combined for 53 points with Hayes added 14 and Hartmann totaling 10 to go along with a career-high 10 rebounds for his second career double double. Sophomore David Angelo scored 12 points, going 4-for-7 from three-point range.
The Cardinals head to Juniata on Wednesday. Tip-off is at 7 p.m., from Memorial Gymnasium.
