Cardinals Drop Landmark Conference Match at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Moravian won the final four singles matches, including the clinching fifth point at No. 5 singles, as the Greyhounds posted a 7-2 Landmark Conference victory over the Catholic University women's tennis team on Saturday at Hoffman Tennis Courts.

The Cardinals (4-8, 1-2 LC) trailed by one after doubles as the team of junior Lauren Edwards and freshman Brooke Simonson won 8-5 at No. 2. The duo improved their record to 5-3 this season, including 3-3 in dual matches and 3-1 at No. 2.

After a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 win by sophomore Grace Connell at No. 3 singles, Catholic remained one point behind with four singles matches left to be decided. Connell picked up her team-leading sixth singles win of the season as she improved to 6-4, including 5-2 at No. 3 and 3-0 in Landmark Conference matches.

Sophomore Colleen McLaughlin is also 6-4 this season while Simonson also has six singles victories.

However, the Greyhounds (10-1, 4-0 LC) would seal their fifth consecutive victory with wins at No. 1, No. 5, No. 4 and No. 6 singles.

The Cardinals return to action tomorrow when they travel to Elizabethtown for a Landmark Conference match beginning at noon.
