Four Cardinals Earn Wins on a Landmark Weekend

WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America men's tennis team picked up three wins in the opening match of a Landmark weekend against Drew with another getting a win against Scranton. The Cardinals fell to the Rangers, 6-3, and then the Royals, 8-1.

Catholic's No. 2 doubles team of senior Matthew Holtschneider and junior Ted Tiu combined for a hard-fought win, 8-6, over Drew.

The Cards also got win in the No. 4 and No. 6 singles spots against the Rangers as rookie Frankie Fortunati and junior Kyle Weber went over, 6-1, 6-3, and 6-3, 1-6, 10-4, respectively.

Catholic got their final W of the weekend in the No. 1 singles bout against Scranton as he took down Keller McGurrin in straight-sets, 7-5, 6-2.

After a doubleheader weekend, the Cardinals will have a week to prepare for its next Landmark opponent as they host their first match since last October when they welcome Susquehanna at 1 p.m.
