WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America men's tennis team posted a near-flawless weekend at home on the Dowd Family Tennis Courts as they blanked Moravian on Saturday, 9-0, before the Cardinals defeated Elizabethtown, 8-1.
Seniors Rob Alexander, Matthew Holtschneider, Jan Lasota and Brendan Rooney played their final matches in their collegiate careers and helped the Cards improve their win record by two.
Lasota and Alexander teamed to take the No. 1 doubles match against Moravian, 8-4, to set the tone for the weekend. Lasota went on to win the top singles bout, 6-3, 6-1, while Alexander was victorious in the two spot, 1-6, 6-0, 6-2.
Holtschneider teamed with junior Ted Tiu to win both No. 2 doubles matches on the weekend as they duo down Moravian and Elizabethtown, both by the score of 8-2.
