WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America men's basketball team came up with a huge win on Senior Day over the then-top team in the Landmark Moravian, 90-88. Down by one with two seconds left, junior Jimmy Golaszewski buried a 3-pointer that claimed the final Landmark Conference playoff spot.

Golaszewski was one of three Cardinals with 19 points as Catholic overcame a late Greyhound rally. Moravian overcame 16-point, second-half deficit and took its first lead of the game, by one, with 13 seconds left.

Catholic would not be deterred however as coach Steve Howes drew up the game-winning play after a timeout with six seconds left.

Golaszewski was on the inbound to senior Jay Howard who calmly pitched back to the rolling trigger man for the Cardinals' biggest basket of the year.

The season-saving play in a win-or-go-home situation should not have come as a surprise as Golaszewski entered the game ranked seventh in the country in 3-point percentage (.490).

The No. 4-ranked Cards now travel to face No. 1 Juniata on Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m., in the Landmark Conference semifinals.

Golaszewski made all but one of the Cardinals' 3-pointers as he went 4-of-y from distance and added a game-high three steals.

Howard eclipsed the 2,100-point scoring mark in his career as he also chipped in five rebounds and a game-high seven assists.

Catholic also got a massive game from sophomore center Riley Hayes who posted a 19-19 game. He joined Golaszewski and Howard with 19 points apiece and pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds. He also dished out four assists.

The Cardinals advance to the Landmark Conference semifinals for the sixth-straight season.
