GALLOWAY, N.J. - Playing about 15 minutes from her hometown, Catholic University women's basketball junior Megan Stafford totaled her second career double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Cardinals to a 67-49 victory over Penn State Abington Friday night at the Stockton Tip-Off Tournament.

Catholic (1-1) advances to the tournament title game on Saturday where it will face host Stockton beginning at 3 p.m.

In addition to her 13 points and 10 rebounds, Stafford also added four assists and five steals. Junior Sydney Poindexter added a game-high 16 points to go along with eight rebounds.

The Cardinals' starters combined for 56 points and 26 rebounds with freshman Luca Mamula scoring a career-high 13 points.

Catholic took a 14-11 lead after the first quarter with sophomore Cristin George scoring five points off the bench. The team expanded that margin to 13 at the half after outscoring the Nittany Lions in the second quarter, 21-11. Stafford and Poindexter combined for 16 of the Cards' 21 points, scoring eight each as Catholic limited Penn State Abington to just nine shot attempts for the floor.

The Cardinals held the Nittany Lions scoreless for the first 4:13 while posting a 9-0 run.

Mamula scored nine of her 13 points in the third quarter as the Cardinals pushed their lead to 18, taking a 55-37 advantage into the fourth. She was a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor while hitting her only three-point attempt.

Catholic held a 45-32 advantage in rebounds, pulling down 18 offensive rebounds which led to 19 second-chance points.

Junior Mollie Reynolds had nine points and four rebounds while George finished with seven points and four rebounds.
