Cardinal Rally to Beat Scranton, Earn Third Seed in Playoffs

WASHINGTON, D.C. - With the most anticipated date on the schedule and with seeding in the Landmark Conference Volleyball Championship to play for, the Catholic University women's volleyball team rallied from two sets down to beat rival Scranton Saturday at Franny Murray Court.

With the win, the Cardinals (19-11 4-2 LC) secured the third seed in next week's Landmark Conference tournament and will travel to No. 2 seed Susquehanna on Wednesday in the semifinals.

Catholic has won six of its last nine matches, including three of four conference contests.

Sophomore Patricia Martinez totaled a career-high 27 kills against the Royals (19-6, 3-3 LC) while sophomore Caroline Kelly had 27 digs.

The Cardinals began the day with a three-set loss to No. 7 Juniata, 25-16, 25-20, 25-22.
