Huntingdon, Pa. — The Catholic University of America men's basketball team suffered Landmark Conference loss on Saturday as the Cardinals were edged by Juniata, 70-62.

Senior Jay Howard scored 22 points while junior Jimmy Golaszewski went 5-of-6 from 3-point range for 17 points, but Juniata's Marcus Lee poured in 25 and the Eagles outrebounded the Cards by 10.

Catholic held a one-point halftime advantage, 25-24, but Juniata stormed back in the second.

The game featured five lead changes and seven ties. Juniata evened it at 41-all with 12:25 to play and next went ahead and extended its lead to double digits with a 13-2 run over the next six-and-half minutes.

Catholic was able to cut it back to eight on a layup by sophomore Brandon Easton 18 seconds but could get no closer.

Junior Andre Mitchell joined Howard and Golaszewski as double-digit scorers as he added 12 points. Howard had a strong line with six rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocks as he played all 40 minutes.

The loss snaps a three-game win streak for the Cardinals who look to get back on track next Wednesday, January 31, as they take on Goucher on the road at 7 p.m.
