Box Score 2 WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America volleyball team went a perfect 6-0 in two sweeps on day one of the 19th annual Guetle Invitational, hosted by the Cardinals. Catholic downed Pitt-Greensburg before defeating William Peace, both in straight sets.
The Cardinals hit over .300 percent as a team in their first win as senior Amy O'Connor led the way with 13 kills while her classmate and setter Michelle Seals went for the double-double with 35 assists and 11 digs.
Sophomore hitter Isabelle Cooper was just behind O'Connor in game one with 12 kills and added two blocks.
Catholic kept it going against William Peace as four Cards had at least eight kills. O'Connor and freshman Patricia Martinez each tallied 10 while senior Maria Cristina Juelle had nine and Cooper had eight.
Martinez also went for the double-double with a game-high 18 digs. Seals once again hit 30 assists as she continues to key the Catholic attack.
The Cardinals are set for two more games tomorrow with Ursinus on tap at noon before a showdown with Salisbury in the final game of the invite at 4 p.m.
