WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America women's tennis team lost its first match of the year after starting 5-0 with an 8-1 defeat at York on Saturday.
Catholic got its victory at No. 4 singles spot as junior Lisa Genadry earned the win, 6-2, 6-2.
The Cardinals also had several close matches that went the other way. Three of the five other singles bouts went to a third set while another needed a tie-breaker in the first set.
Genadry teamed with freshman Colleen McLaughlin for the No. 3 doubles spot and earned four points in the loss.
Catholic continues a four-game road trip next week when the Cardinals travel to Hood on Friday, October 6 at 3:30 p.m.
