Catholic Competes at ITA Regionals and York

WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America men's tennis team traveled to York on Saturday but ran into an impressive squad that defeated the Cardinals, 9-0. Catholic also had several top competitors at the ITA Regionals.

Catholic had half its team compete against the Spartans as the Cardinals had a split squad also compete at the ITA Regionals.

Senior No. 1 Jan Lasota compete in the championship singles at the regional championship and teamed with Rob Alexander in doubles action.

One of the Cards' best performances against York came in the No. 1 doubles spot as the team of freshman Frankie Fortunati and sophomore Eric Marcarski earned three points but fell 8-3.

Fortunati also got six points in the No. 2 singles bout, 6-3, 6-3.

Catholic continues a three-game road trip next week when the Cardinals travel to Hood on Friday, October 6 at 3:30 p.m.
