WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's tennis team took to the road on Sunday as they faced off against Elizabethtown in Landmark Conference action. The Cardinals got a win and several strong matches but fell, 8-1.

Rookie Jack Emerick earned the Cardinal victory at No. 5 singles. He traded 6-1 set with Nathan Dowling as Emerick took the first. The tie-breaker was tightly contested, but Emerick took the bout, 10-6.

Emerick also teamed with sophomore Ted Tiu for Catholic's closest doubles match. At No. 2, Emerick and Tiu combined for five points but were edged, 8-5.

Tiu also had a strong singles showing as he took the first set in the No. 3 spot. Tyler Spinello rallied however to take the second, 6-4. The deciding set needed its own tiebreaker at 6-all, but Spinello earned the final point, 7-5.
