WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's tennis ran into a strong Goucher Gopher squad at the Dowd Family Courts on Wednesday afternoon and were topped, 9-0.
Forced into action in the top singles spot due to a teammate'ss injury, junior Jan Lasota put forth a strong effort in the No. 1 spot but was edged, 6-2, 6-2.
Lasota also combined with classmate Rob Alexander in top doubles match but the duo was outscored, 8-4.
Sophomore Ted Tiu along with rookie Jack Emerick looked strong in the No. 2 doubles match, but were also edged, 8-5.
Tiu nearly pulled the first-set win at No. 3 singles but was ultimately topped, 7-5, 6-0.
Catholic looks to rebound this weekend when the Cardinals start a Landmark doubleheader weekend at Moravian on Saturday at 1 p.m.
