WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's tennis team had several strong matches at Randolph on Sunday, but were edged by the Wildcats, 6-3.
Junior Jenna Gietl led way as she earned two victories in Lynchburg, Va. She earned the win at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 7-6 (8-6), and then teamed with sophomore Erin Cole to take the No. 2 doubles, match, 8-4.
Senior Faith Tamuleviz earned Catholic's third win with a 6-0, 6-4 victory in No. 5 singles. The Cards nearly got their fourth win as sophomore Elizabeth Ast went to a third set at No. 6, but was topped, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 4-6.
The Cardinals now head to Hilton Head, S.C., for its annual Spring Break Trip that begins on March 5. They will take on Lebanon Valley, Roanoke and St. John Fisher.
