WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's tennis team began the 2017 portion of its schedule with a match against Washington College in Chestertown, Md., on Sunday. The Cardinals had several close matches but fell, 9-0.
The No. 1 doubles team of senior Jan Lasota and junior Rob Alexander took five points from Washington College, but were topped, 8-5. Lasota also took three points in the first set of his No. 1 singles match, but fell to Jake Sandler, 6-3, 6-0.
Rookie Kyle Weber also earned three points in the first set of No. 5 singles, but August Meriot was able to close out the first set and took the second, 6-2.
The Cards have two more away matches coming this week as they play at Salisbury on Friday before facing Randolph on Sunday.
