Women's Tennis Splits in Weekend Action

WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America women's tennis team went 1-1 this past weekend with a win at Hood, 7-2, before falling at home to Randolph, 8-1.

Junior Erin Cole led the way in the win over Hood as she was victorious in the No. 1 singles bout, 6-2, 6-0. She also earned a default win in the No. 3 doubles slot.

Freshman Christina Cochrane was a two-time winner for the Cardinals at Hood with a No. 4 singles win, 6-1, 6-1. She also teamed with rookie Bridget Kilkelly at No. 2 doubles for an 8-0 sweep.

Catholic's lone win in a tough match against a game Randolph team came at No. 5 singles when junior Elizabeth Ast went over, 6-3, 6-3.

The Cardinals wrap the 2017 portion of its schedule with a 6-2 record, including a perfect 4-0 mark in road matches.

Catholic returns to the courts in 2018 on February 28 at Salisbury.
